Easter Weekend
We finally had a weekend to paint. We woke up Saturday morning had breakfast and got to work on the nursery. Dave taped off the ceiling, baseboards, and side wall. We then went to work on the accent wall. Although the contrast is nice it is not drastic, it will look better once the crib is there. We started painting all the nursery furniture. All of the furniture is handed down from family so we wanted to make it our own by painting it different colors. We chose 2 shades of brown that go with the bedding and that we felt would look warm and inviting for our son (If you know me my favorite colors are tan and brown). As we are painting the crib, changing table/dresser, & two dressers I decide that I want to paint all the furniture that I have been wanting to paint. I figured if we were going to make the mess we might as well get as much done as possible. Lets just say that I didn't accomplish everything that I wanted because I was trying to do too much at one time. I put a first coat on everything but still need to get another coat on most of the items. Dave was laughing at me because of how anxious I was to get everything done. We were painting from about 10 in the morning until about 6:30 at night. Our friends the Perkins called to invite us over for dinner and games. Thank you Perkins for giving us a break from a long day of painting. We would have painted all night and my back was really starting to ache.
We had a great time with the Perkins, the Stewarts, and the Campbells on Saturday evening eating homemade pizza, hot fudge sundays, and playing games. It was nice getting to know some of the people in the ward on a more personal basis.
We stayed out late on Saturday and woke up Sunday in time to eat breakfast and get ready for church. I spent most of sacrament uncomfortable and constantly changing positions to see if I could find a comfortable position (it never did happen). Then off to primary for what I expected to be a day full of sugar hyper children; turned out we only had 3 kids in my class. Kim Fitch is the other teacher in the class and she did a wonderful job on the lesson. She is amazing, I am so glad that we are in the calling together. I felt large and uncomfortable the entire time at church. Our son is just growing so big.
Dave and I came home from church and decided to take it easy. I think it was mainly because Dave has March Madness fever and wanted to watch some of the games since I kept him busy on Saturday. I was able to get all of my Thank you cards addressed and ready for mailing. Dave was so thoughtful and cleaned the kitchen for me. We enjoyed a dinner of Steak (which Dave grilled), baked potato, and green salad. It all tasted great and was easy to make. I realized half way into the meal that I forgot the traditional deviled eggs that my family always makes for Easter. I will have my deviled eggs sometime this week, it always reminds me of my Grandma who past away 4 years ago. We missed being with our families for the holiday. The rest of the evening was uneventful.
Now it is Monday already and we were able to finish painting all the items that we started on Saturday. Yeah, tomorrow we will finish putting the nursery together and the I will post some pictures. I forgot to mention that I am now having weekly visits with the Doctor and last week she told me that my cervix is starting to soften. I was hoping for more action but that is just because now that we are almost done getting everything ready, I am anxious to meet our little guy.
We hope that everyone had a great Easter weekend!

Thanks for letting me barge in and see everything you've been painting. I love the tan and can't wait to see it all together.
I want to see your cute baby's room. When is your next Dr's apt. I am getting so excited for you.

You know, I painted Andrew's room when I was hugely pregnant, but only it was August and I had no A/C in the house. Aren't pregnant women crazy, or what! Let me say that it definitely hasn't inspired me to want to do any more painting since then. But I'm impressed with your motivation...all that furniture, too? You're amazing! And don't get too disheartened about the Dr. appt. Seriously, you could go from zero to 10 in a few hours. Everyone's bodies are different...hey you may be there any day and go quick...who knows. We can always hope, right?
Glad to see that you got your painting done. I'm excited for you guys to have your baby.
