Off to the left of the pool is the ledge I am referring to. My niece Nalea is holding onto it in this picture.
As you can see Kiana and Ryker were swimming buddies.
We went swimming a few days in California. Ryker is used to the warm water from the pool at the gym so he was a little whiny and clingy in the water. My niece Kiana enjoyed carting Ryker around in the water. He had fun running around the pool making her chase him from the inside and then he would jump to her. One of the days I was watching this happen and my intuition told me to keep an eye on what he was doing. Ryker loves to have fun but he gets so preoccupied with having fun that he can be a little clumsy or careless (I am not sure what to do about this, hopefully it is something he grows out of). I bought him a cute little inner tube and he LOVED it but it made him more confident around the water (which can be scary). He was looking at Kiana in the water while he was making his way on the outside of the pool an walked right off the edge, face first into the pool. I was fortunate enough to see this happening right in front of me and jumped up as he went in. The inner tube was tight enough that he was just upside down in it and I was able to grab his leg and pull him out within seconds. I am grateful for the spirit that told me to keep a close eye on him or this could have been a lot worse. I wrapped him in a towel and he was fine. He was ready to go back in the water within a few minutes and with the suggestion of my older sister, Tiffany, I agreed to let him go back in (she said not to make a big deal about it or he would be tramatized). I kept a close eye on him when he was in or near the water. It was nice to be in 70 degree weather for most of the trip and enjoy some time outdoors.
