Bear Lake & 4th of July

We had a very exciting and busy week of the 4th. My family planned a vacation to Bear Lake the 1st - 3rd. We stayed in the Harbor Village Condos which was minutes from the beach. We got there on Tuesday and went to see if Dave's grandparents the Haycocks were at their cabin (they have not seen Ryker) but they were not there. We then met up with my family and checked into the condos where we unloaded ALL of our stuff. When packing for a baby I tend to go overboard. We have been having to take the less gas efficient vehicle to fit everything in (although it probably would fit if we didn't have to take Dave's golf clubs) each time we have gone to visit our families recently. In my defense we have been gone for 5-7 days at a time and you never know how many outfits they are going to go through in that time. OK back to the busy week. After getting settled we had a great meal of Spaghetti & meatballs or alfredo, salad, and this incredible cheese bread that my sister Lezette made. Dave and I were in charge of breakfast and lunch the next day so after taking a nice walk with my mom and Lezette I went back to the condo to get somethings ready. We did easy meals, for breakfast we did muffins, yogurt, a variety of fresh fruit, milk, & juice. For lunch we did chicken salad sandwiches, chips, grapes, and lemonade. Dave and my brother-in-law Tim spent most of the day golfing at the Sweetwater course while the rest of us spent the day at the beach playing in the water (altough it was too cold for me & Ryker) and playing in the sand. I was in the shade with Ryker most of the time but did get some much needed sun on my arms & face. For dinner that night my sister Tiffany made some yummy sloppy joes, a salad, and chips. The next morning Tiff made waffles and turkey bacon. Sadly that day we had to get everything packed up and ready to head home (we went to my parents). Dave tried to take Ryker into the lake and he was not happy about the cold water
On the way home we stopped in Logan at Willow Park and went through their little zoo. The younger kids had a great time and Ryker slept through the whole thing. My parents were in charge of lunch and had all the fixing for great sub sandwiches. Dave and Tim went golfing at Logan River and so Ryker & I went home with my sister Tiffany. Overall it was a short but sweet little vacation.

The following day was the 4th of July. We got up and got ready to watch the Kaysville parade with Dave's family. I bought Ryker this cute little onesie that said "Mommy's little Firecracker 08", it looked so cute on hime. Ryker fell asleep on the way over and was rudely awakened by the loud fire truck sirens and horn. Ryker did enjoy watch most of the parade and the young kids running to get the candy. I am not a big fan of parades but this one was descent. At the end of the parade they have a really big water fight with fire trucks and everything. I didn't want to get wet so I went as far back as possible with Ryker and I still got wet. Ryker and I headed to Dave's parents early so I could change his diaper and feed him before everyone else got there. I guess they had to end the parade early because someone was hurt. They actually had to life flight a 10 year old boy who was run over by a float trailer. This boy happened to be in the Carlisle's ward and we heard later that day that he was fine I guess he only had some road rash and a chipped ankle bone. They thought that the trailer had run over his pelvis and abdomen so that is why he was life flighted. Later that day we went to Layton days to watch my niece Kiana perform her Polynesian dances. My other niece Mariah should have been there to perform but she was visiting her dad. Kiana did a great job, some of the older girls did some intense dances. After that we went back to the Carlisle's home for a BBQ and the firework show from their back yard.

We made it back safely on Sunday evening with a very eventful week. We had a great Independence day and hope you did too.
