7 Months Old
The video above was taken while I was at my enrichment activity. This is what happens when I leave. While mom is away the boys will play.
Ryker turned 7 months on Saturday but since it was such a busy day I didn't get around to posting about his new milestone.
6 to 7 months has been such a fun age. Ryker has developed so much more of his personality that Dave and I find ourselves laughing at all the new things that he does or attempts to do. In the last month Ryker has done all of the following:
* Started to get into the crawling stance - he usually would face plant when he would try and move and eventually roll over onto his back.
* He is babbling cute little things like "ba, ba, ga, ga, gee, gee, da, da, ya, ya, wa, wa" OK you get the point. It is fun to hear him trying out new phrases.
* Ryker has been moving around on his tummy a little more. He still doesn't care to be on his stomach but now he has realized that he can rotate 360 degrees by moving his arms.
* He also started scooting on him bum, it is kind of funny to watch him do this.
* Ryker has been rolling from his back to his tummy. Usually he grabs something then rolls back over.
* Ryker started to CRAWL. He is now just a little mobile. I will set him in one place and watch him move himself around. What is even better, he is able to get himself back into a sitting position. I can't tell you how many times over this last month that I have had to put him back into a sitting position. He gets so frustrated that he will just cry until I go over and put him back on his bum. I guess now we will have to baby proof the house and no more sit in one place days of getting ready in the bathroom with Ryker in the door way with some toys. Ryker is a very active child so this moment is bittersweet for me.
* Ryker has been standing up here and there, for the past month. He likes to lean against things. He now likes to try and pull himself into a standing position. Ryker's new preference is standing at the coffee table and play with toys when they are on the table. He is such a funny kid.
* Ryker gives hugs and kisses. Nothing feels better than having him wrap his arms around your neck and then give you a big slobbery open mouth kiss on the cheek.
I love being a mom, it is so fulfilling to watch Ryker grow and try new things. Most of the time he gets frustrated when he tries something new and doesn't succeed. I try really hard to make a big deal when he does succeed. As I said earlier, so much of his personality is coming through. He gets upset when he doesn't get his food right when he wants it. He also lets us know when he is tired (hard to explain in words). He has been very good at expressing his emotions. I am so proud to be his mother. I can't wait to share all the holiday firsts with my little guy. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and setting up the Christmas tree. (any suggestions as to how to keep a crawling baby away from the tree). There have been many Christmas mornings that I have dreamed of what it would have been like if we had a child, this year those dreams have come true. I know not to expect much from Ryker for the next few years, but these next few years are more exciting for Dave and I to have the family we have always wanted.
Yesterday in church some of our good friends gave talks on Gratitude. It made me think of all the things that I am grateful for that I have not expressed. I have been too busy with my life to stop and thank those that I love for all the things that they do for me. Dave has been so helpful with Ryker so that I can do things for my enrichment activities, do girls night out with friends, go shopping without interruptions, and catch up on my sleep during the weekend, the list could go on. I also want to stop and thank all my friends, I have such great friends. I won't list them all because that would take a long time and I wouldn't want to leave anyone out. I have friends that I have had since I was 3, and those from elementary, Jr. high, high school, co-workers, and neighborhood friends. I have family members that I consider to be some of my best friends. I am so blessed to be surrounded by people who love and care about me. Thank you to everyone who has touched my life in one way or another. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

Sharee, you are so adorable. (I can see where Ryker gets all his personality...) Have a wonderful holiday and travel safely. p.s. the Love and Logic approach to the Christmas tree really works! I was amazed when I used it last year with elizabeth and Caleb. I'll chat with you later about it if you are interested. love ya.
I love reading your posts! Holidays are so much more fun with children! Our first Christmas was wonderful! He was only 3 months old but we were excited anyways. The christmas tree is a big toy for them! I invested in plastic balls and redecorated the tree pretty much every day! Ryker is so adorable! I love the giggles, dad's seem to be so much more funnier!!
I would love to teach a craft sometime. I'm not sure what craft you would like me to do but I think that it would be fun. I love your cute pictures in your slideshow... it is always so fun to see what is going on with your cute family! Thanks for always writing cute comments on my blog, I love reading them! :)
That is such an adorable video! I had to watch it twice. Wow, he really has accomplished a lot in the last 2 months. I can't believe Wesley will be doing those things soon too. You are such an inspiring Mom. Hopefully I'll see you on Thanksgiving. We'll be coming a little late because we're having dinner with Jon's family first.
That laugh is adorable. I could listen to it all day. Ryker is just as lucky to have you as a mom as you are to have him as a son (and it sounds like he has a great dad too.)
Don't you think this age is so much fun? I think it was one of my favorites. And for him to be at this stage around the Holidays is even more fun! I hope you guys are doing good.
That video was so cute!!! You are such a cute mommy, and you have the most perfect baby!!!! I am sorry you had the flu, you poor thing. It was so good seeing you. I think next time we should just have a girl date, and go to a movie. Thank you for always leaving such nice things on my blog, you always make my day!! Your the best friend a girl could ask for!!!!
That was funny! I love Ryker's laugh!
