Why Fall is one of my favorite seasons

Fall is one of my favorite seasons for the following reasons:
* Dave & I were engaged 7 years ago on October 27th.
* I love sharing all the exciting new 1st with Ryker. His smile just brightens my days
* I love all the different bright colored leaves on the trees in all the canyons
* I love the wonderful smells of Fall... spices, pumpkin, fresh cut hay.
* There are some good holidays, Halloween & Thanksgiving which includes good food.
* I love sweaters... and getting nice & cozy in a blanket with those that you love.
* The field behind our house turns golden with the harvest. Yes, some of our family pictures
were taken in our backyard.
* I enjoy watching the birds fly south for the winter.
The only thing that I don't like about Fall is that it is too short. The Fall season here in Idaho starts earlier than most places but that only means that winter is that much longer than most places as well. Winter is one of my least favorite seasons.
After spending the day on Saturday deep cleaning my house I was ready to head outdoors to enjoy what is left of the nice weather. Dave & I took Ryker on a road trip up past Kelly Canyon. We have never been up to the resort and wanted to see what it was like. I miss Sardine canyon between Logan and Brigham City in the fall. That canyon has the most beautiful scenery of all different colored trees in the fall. OK, Jackson is pretty much equal with Sardine Canyon.
Sorry, I got off track there. So we started driving while listening to the last session of General Conference. It is always so refreshing to listen to what the Apostles and Prophet have to say to us. I thought it very interesting that they were talking a lot about the hardships that Joseph Smith and the early saints had to endure. I know that sometimes I get so wrapped up in what I don't have... or how my life would be better if... that I don't stop to just be happy with how uncomplicated my life is compared to some of the early saints. I know that we all have our own individual trials that we have to go through. I really enjoyed President Thomas S. Monson's talk on Change. That talk really made me think very deeply about my life and what I am currently doing in mine. So much in my life has changed since the last general conference, for one we had Ryker, another is the situation with my Dad (who continues to recover more with each passing day). It is much harder to listen to and enjoy conference when you have a cranky teething baby trying to get your attention. Thank goodness for DVR and naps. Again I am getting side tracked here.
How can you not love that face?
Needless to say we really enjoyed getting out into the wilderness and taking in the beauty of the world that God has created. Along the way we came across a barn and an old truck and decided to stop on the way back and take some pictures for Ryker's room. His room is themed around old fashioned planes, trains, and automobiles. We were not dressed for taking great pictures so we vowed to go back another time and take more pictures. Maybe we can even convince our friend Kristy to take our family photos again since she did such a great job on the previous ones. I hope that you are not too overwhelmed with all the pictures, I guess you just tend to take more pictures when you have an adorable son like mine. If you want to see even more I have them all posted on Facebook.
I loved spending so much quality time with my great husband and son!

The pictures are really cool. You should send in your sons picture to the baby Gap contest on their website. I'd vote for him.

Your pictures are also amazing. Don't you just love this time of year? Oh, you have one handsome little guy there! Tell Dave thanks for taking the time to do the refrence work. Chris is scheduled to do clinicals at the prison here and they don't mess around. Enjoy the rest of your somewhat warm weather!
p.s. I can't wait to try that recipe, sounds fantastic!

I LOVE fall leaves and pumpkin anything!! These pictures are really cute. We were in Logan yesterday but never even had a chance to see the leaves up the canyon :( I was way sad. I like the random truck and barn pictures, they will look cute in his room.
